Coupon Myths

1. You have to eat unhealthy to use coupons.  False.  While there are a lot of  quick fix and “unhealthy” coupon options,  just don’t use them.  Many organic and natural manufacturers give out many coupons.  Besides, all the money you save on household, pantry, health, etc. items will more than make up for the money you spend on produce and meats that you don’t have coupons for.

2. Coupons take too much time.  Coupons can be time consuming if you want the to be.  However, many retailers now allow you to load coupons to your rewards card and there’s no clipping at all! Also, if you just want certain coupons, sign up at your favorite retailers/store/restaurant’s website. I’ve been surprised at what coupons I’ve received.

3.  I will spend more money by using coupons for brand name rather than store brand.   This one is up to you. be a smart shopper. Know what you will be getting for the money. Use uniting prices to help make your decisions. Finally, consider overall value and quality of name brand vs. store/generic brand.  There are some products you just can’t compromise on!

4. Using coupons causes me to buy things I really don’t need.  Again, be a smart shopper. Know what you need and can really use.  While O totally admit coupons have caused me try some new products, but overall  I’ve learned to I stick to what I use/need. It helps by knowing things like: what meals you are planning, does my husband only use one brand of shampoo, items that you want vs. need. Make a grocery list and stick to it. I cannot stress enough, be organized BEFORE you get to the store.
