In my attempt at blogging about Internet printable coupons, I have seen an unbelievable amount of fake and fraudulent coupons. Some of the fakes are very good and I  certainly would not put myself above being fooled. Sadly, the increase in the number of fake coupons only hurts us all. I am beginning to see results. Stores are more cautious about taking any coupons, much less Internet printables. Manufacturers like Coke Rewards will not let you print coupons any more. They are mailed to you.  Ebay has a coupon selling policy in place. ( One rule, a seller cannot sell more than 2 “free” coupons in any listing.) As I have stated before, willfully using fake coupons is equivalent to stealing from a store. Even if you can get the cashier to take the coupon, the store is not reimbursed. Educate yourself about what fake coupons are floating around. If you are planning to buy coupons, ask yourself: “If I can only get one or two of a coupon, how is this person getting so many?” If it seems to good to be true…… it most likely is.

Life sure can throw you some curve balls and just get plain busy ( that part, mostly of my own making!) but never the less, just so my readers know if it seems like my blog has become a bit sparse, other things are taking priority and time just will not let me chase all the deals. My husband is scheduled for rotator cuff surgery very soon, I’m co-directing a play and a certain favorite nephew will arrive very soon and we have a family trip planned. Add in a birthday, other friends and family coming to town and I have a very full plate! I’m thankful for that all my couponing and deal finding stockpiles will allow me to take time off for the most important things in my life. I hope all my readers find out that best thing about couponing and deal seeking is that you can take the all the time and money you save and use it for the things most important to you!

My $.02!  Mr Rebates Scam or Legit?  Part II
So many have read my first post on Mr Rebates, I decided it needs a few more things answered. One question many have regarding Mr Rebates is: “If they are legit, why do they hold my rebates for 90 days?” This is because many people change their orders, make returns etc. It’s not really fair to expect a rebate for an item you return. So, to avoid this, your rebates are held for 90 days past the purchase date to allow for all returns and changes. You will get your rebate when you have at least $10 in rebates and just for signing up you gt $5! So even a few small purchases with the larger rebate percentage amount will get you to $10 quick! Also, keep in mind with all of the great promos and coupons codes offered by Mr Rebates you get some huge savings to start with, and you will only get a rebate on the actual amount purchased after promos and codes are entered. So, why do I post all the games and sweeps on a couponing blog? Well, a lot of times the sponsor of the game or sweeps will let you print a coupon as sort of a consolation prize. Secondly, it puts you in touch with companies that will send you the offers! Sadly, this is another reason to play all the games with your couponing/junk e-mail address. How Mr Rebates Works
Mr Rebates is a website that caters to online shoppers. The site has a vast array of sites from Walmart to Ebay to Priceline and everything in between. Each store offers you a cash back rebate when making your purchase if made though Mr Rebates website. Amounts vary between 1%-25%. Mr rebates also offers shoppers the most up to date coupon codes (of any available) for each store. So, the shoppers get to combine coupon codes and cash back incentives for shopping on line.

Getting organized.  Better yet, staying organized.  Couponing has morphed so many times and in so many ways for me. For those starting out, I say, take your time and find out what works best for you. I can almost guarantee it will change over time!

Lessons Learned

• Don’t try to clip every coupon, just the ones you are most certain to need.  Then keep the inserts and be ready for anything “extra!”
• Take time to discard outdated coupons ( Unless you have a store that allows expired!)
• Internet Printables- print now! Many coupons sites have limits on the number of coupons available.  The bigger value or harder to find coupons, will go fast.  Also, you just might forget where you found that great coupon.
• Organizing Coupons: I now just separate coupons into two categories “food” and “household” and pull the coupons I need for my grocery list.  Whatever works for you is great.  Just be organized BEFORE you get to the store.
• Time: Coupons, deal and bargain hunting take time. However, when I look at the payout, I’m making pretty good money. For example, I saved $50+ dollars at Kroger last week. I spent an hour clipping, printing and getting ready and about an hour in the store.  I see that as $25/hr and that’s making purrfect cents to me!

Since starting my blogging adventure, I’ve looked for ways to at least make the blog pay for itself or perhaps even make a little bit at doing it. I thought it would probably be hard to get ads and offers for my blog.   After all, I”m just a new kid on the block, penny ante blogger.  Wrong!  There are lots of people out there that offer incentives to be on your blog. However, I am dismayed at the quality that most of them lack. Most I feel are spammy, offer unrealistic things ( AKA in my book as a scam) and specifically for my blog, offer savings or rewards that I just don’t think are real. So, I have decided for my blog I would rather have less “offers” (ads) and stick with deals and savings that I feel are legit and real. I want my readers to think my $.02 are things they can take to the bank!

1) You must contact the company. I prefer by phone first or e-mail second.

2) Be specific in your complaint.

3) Have a model number, UPC code or ID of a service person handy.

4) I always like to tell, the company that I normally like their products, I am a regular customer or the high quality standards I have come to expect from them was not met on this occasion. In general, I try to be as positive as I can about the company.

5) If the first person does not resolve your issue, ask for a manager.

6) Do not take your frustrations or aggravations out on a customer service rep. They may not even have the power to resolve a matter.

7) Don’t complain just to get something free.  Have legitimate and valid concerns for making a call to a company. 

If you cannot get resolution on a matter that you truly feel is valid, there are two things the company needs to know before you hang up.

1) The will lose your business.

2) You will tell others about their products and the customer service one can expect to receive from them.

As a last resort on big issues, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Finally, don’t just call companies when things go wrong. Call them with compliments too! I have been pleasantly surprised by some snail mail in the form of coupons thanking me for taking the time to call/write!

Want vs. Waste. It’s so tempting to print a lot of the coupons out there for a “just in case I’ll use it” scenario. I’ve really had to ask myself questions before printing.
1)Will I really use this coupon for something that I need?
2) Will it save me money or cause me to buy an item just because it’s on sale?
3) Am I just going to waste paper and ink by printing it?
4) What am I going to use my bargain buy on or for?
Answering these questions before printing a coupon will save you even more time and money!
